Do Your Ads And Sales Materials Convey
The Right Message To Your Target Market?

Welcome back to Marketing Gems 101.

In order for a marketing promotion to be successful – it has to include the right message to the right market, using the right medium at the right time.

A few weeks ago, I discussed how important it is for you to know who your market is, so today we’ll talk about your “message”, and how it can be responsible for it receiving an overwhelming response or it being a dud.

So…what is the right message?

Whenever you create an ad, a web page, a sales letter, or any marketing materials like them, you’ll be talking to your target audience or market (which you’ve already learned about).

The message- which consists partly of a headline and copy must be about a topic, product, or service that the reader is already interested in and inclined to want or need.

Another way to look at it is it must be a message to market match.

For example, if you were selling a product showing unemployed consumers how to find and get their perfect job, chances are your message would be pretty darn well received.

However, if you tried to sell them a subscription to an investment newsletter, it may not go over quite so well because people just don’t have the extra dough to invest.

Do you see how important it is? You have to know who your target market is and then craft a relevant message to them. Something they will want to read.

You just need to take the extra time to do your research and think about how your products and services can benefit your prospects, and how to write copy that will resonate with them enough to grab their attention.

You know, most businesses never spend the necessary time to do this, and as a result, they waste a significant amount of advertising dollars, either marketing the wrong product or marketing it to the wrong people.

And they’ll never sell what they could.

The bottom line is….  Know who your market is, and learn as much about them as you can. Only then, can you write a compelling sales message so they’ll act now!

Till next time!
